Our Youth Program, "Guided by a Horse" serves children in grades 6th - 12th. The purpose of this program is to give guidance and encourage youth in making better decisions for themselves and their futures.
"Guided by a Horse" is a 24 lesson curriculum completed through a series of exercises in which an individual will learn decision making and social skills during their exercises with their group and equine partner. Inspired by Native American culture, the group will craft activities to apply to that day's session topic. They will then participate in activities involving the horses, that will not only be fun and interesting, but will bring a whole new perspective and thought process to the obstacles we face in everyday life. Some examples of our lesson topics include rules and expectations, respect, trust, responsibility, leadership, kindness, self-control, determination and forgiveness. These are all positive qualities and life skills that are desirable in all individuals.
Why horses? While horses are large animals and may be intimidating, they are very keen to sensing our emotions and reading our body language. They offer immediate feedback on how you present yourself in everyday life, thus making horses great partners and teachers. This experience will encourage confidence, self-concept, communication, trust, self-acceptance, spiritual connection, social skill development and much more!
Each individual session is $20 or do the whole 24 course package for a discounted rate of $425.
